ALS offers a private language consultancy for couples wishing to marry abroad. Prior to any overseas wedding, the Civil Registry Office of the
country where you are to be married may require a statutory declaration stating that both parties are free to marry. Your tour operator or solicitor is likely to be able to advise you on this. Once both
parties and your solicitor have signed this copy, it will need to be translated into the foreign language. On your return to the UK, the authorities (passport office, DVLA, etc.) will need a formal translation
of your legal documentation in order to change your personal details.
ALS is able to translate your certificates accurately into any of the world's major languages and provide you with a certificate of authenticity of translation, which is accepted by
the UK authorities. Please check with your solicitor as some authorities may require a notarised copy. This is where the translation needs to be presented and sworn before a notary public and is more
expensive than a simple certification of authenticity.
Other personal documents translated by ALS include: birth certificates, death certificates, divorce papers, education certificates and emigration/immigration documentation.
All of the translations performed at ALS are treated as confidential.
